The registration form for the April 12-14 2012 conference is now available. Please submit your registration as soon as possible.

$100 Registration (received before March 21)
Includes: $15 Mandatory Association Membership and $85 Conference Fee
$110 Late Registration (received after March 21)
Includes: $15 Mandatory Association Membership and $95 Conference Fee

Students

$60 Registration (received before March 21)
Includes: $10 Mandatory Association Membership and $50 Conference Fee
$70 Late Registration (received after March 21)
Includes: $10 Mandatory Association Membership and $60 Conference Fee

Conference attendees not presenting a paper or otherwise participating in any panels on the program must still register for the conference at the rates listed above. Note that late registration fees are added after March 21, so please submit your registration as early as possible.

Refreshments and the following meals are included in the conference fees. For planning purposes, please indicate which meals you will be attending on the registration form when you register online.

The Pacific Northwest American Studies Association Conference April 12-14 2012

Faculty and graduate students interested in presenting at the annual Pacific Northwest American Studies Conference should email proposals to John Trombold, PNASA President, by February 5, 2012, at pnasapres@gmail.com. This year's conference with the theme "Outside In/Inside Out: (Im)Migrant Communities of the Pacific Northwest" will be hosted by the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, April 12-14, 2012. The conference topic is intended to prompt, not to exclude, proposals that might not seem to fit neatly within the annual theme.

Selected proceedings of the conference will be submitted by the PNASA President and Vice-President to an academic publisher for publication. This year, the PNASA will be participating in an American Studies Association Regional Chapter Graduate Student Outstanding Paper Award. Graduate students interested in competing for this award, which will help significantly to defray expenses for the next annual ASA conference, should email completed papers (of about ten pages or less) at the time of the deadline. The ASA 2012 conference will be held November 15-18 at the Caribe Hilton in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

PNASA Receives ASA Grant

The Pacific Northwest American Studies Association is pleased to announce the award of an American Studies Association regional grant supporting our next annual conference with the theme " (Outside in/Inside Out: (Im)Migrant Communities of the Pacific Northwest," which will be hosted by the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington April 12-14, 2012. The call for papers will be forthcoming.

Call for Papers for PNASA 2011 Conference

Proposals for individual papers or full panel presentations are now being accepted for the annual PNASA conference, April 14-16, 2011, at the Center for Social and Environmental Justice at Washington State University in Vancouver, Washington. Papers on topics related to the conference theme, "Crisis and Governance: Theory, Praxis, and Activism" are especially encouraged. Proposals on other topics in American studies are also welcome. In order to be considered for inclusion in the conference program, please submit an abstract of around 250 words by January 31, 2011, via e-mail to John Trombold, PNASA president.

Please include along with your abstract submission the following information:
* name, e-mail, and regular mail address
* telephone
* affiliation and position
* willingness to chair a session
* desired A-V equipment

If you are proposing a full panel, include the names, affiliations, and positions of all participants, along with the abstracts for the individual papers. Presenters and chairs will be notified by February 12, 2011. PNASA as an organization is proud of the collegial atmosphere and fruitful intellectual exchange evident at our annual conferences, where experienced scholars as well as graduate students and advanced undergraduates come together to discuss their work. We ask those whose abstracts are accepted and who register for the conference to plan to attend both days of sessions.

Conference Wrap-Up

Thanks to all who trekked to the Oregon coast for making the conference a success. We had a great line-up of panelists, and the keynote by Molly Gloss was brilliant. The weather was overcast but without rain on Friday and fantastic and clear on Saturday. Thanks again, and I'll be checking in soon about plans for Spokane next year and possible locations for 2011.
